Medical Scientific Liaison Professionals

Acting as the connection between the healthcare industry and product development, Medical Science Liaisons are skilled clinical researchers who bring the latest research and knowledge of therapeutic specialties to the people who develop therapeutic products. A Medical Science Liaising career usually requires a doctoral degree in the medical or clinical sciences, but it's a dynamic and unusual career option that involves the application of such knowledge in a business development and promotional context.

Responsibilities of Medical Scientific Liaison professionals:

  • Act as conduits of information about new research developments, clinical trial activities and therapeutic approaches.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships Key Opinion Leaders (KOL)
  • Attending conferences and talks, presenting information to pharmaceutical product teams and marketing new therapeutic products to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Translate dense, academic information into engaging, persuasive messages; coordinate the flow of clinical information
  • Thorough knowledge of specific disease states and the science that supports his or her company’s products within those disease states

Requirements:

  • Medical or PhD qualifications
  • Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to create and sustain relationships with industry leaders.
  • Experience in clinical research and understanding of the processes in pharmaceutical product development and approval
  • Ability to impart clinical/technical information
  • Commercially astute individual with an interest in drug development
  • Experience in the training of GP and specialist representatives within your therapeutic areas.
  • Ability to interact with key opinion leaders to create advocacy for your product portfolio
